Power Words

Kebanyakan dari kita sudah dengar tentang Power Rangers. Kisah 5 pahlawan yang disebut dengan "Rangers" ini sudah menghibur banyak orang selama bertahun-tahun, dan akhir-akhir ini pun, dibuat menjadi film layar lebar.

Power Rangers punya banyak keahlian dan kekuatan. Mereka bisa melompat jauh, punya skill bela diri yang tangguh, dan bisa melakukan banyak hal spesial lainnya. Mereka bisa merubah kehidupan banyak orang di kota tempat mereka berada.

Sekarang, judul blog kita kali ini adalah Power Words dan terinspirasi dari Power Rangers ini. Sama seperti Rangers, Words (kata-kata) juga punya kekuatan. Kata yang kita ucapkan, pikirkan, dan dengarkan punya kekuatan.

Beberapa buktinya kita bisa rasakan sendiri. Pernahkah kamu merasa sangat marah atau sedih atau senang, setelah mendengar kata-kata orang lain? Lalu, pernahkah kamu terpikir akan kata-kata tertentu, saat kamu merasa marah? Atau saat ingin menghibur orang lain? Pernahkah kamu merasa terinspirasi saat membaca slogan-slogan tertentu, seperti "I'm Lovin It" (slogan McDonald), "Belanja Puas, Harga Pas" (slogan Alfamart), "Wonderful Indonesia" (slogan pariwisata Indonesia), dan bahkan "Rediscover You", yang merupakan slogan Vanela School?

Kata-kata itu kuat. Ia bisa menempel di pikiran kita tanpa kita sadari, dan untuk itulah slogan-slogan dibuat. Kata-kata bisa memulihkan atau membunuh, bisa membangun atau merusak, dan bisa memecahbelahkan atau menyatukan. Cobalah dalam minggu ini, latih kepekaanmu dengan kata-kata yang kamu ucapkan, pikirkan, dan dengarkan. Mungkin kamu bisa tuliskan juga kalau kamu punya waktunya. Tapi cobalah lebih peka, dan pikirkan, apakah kata-kata itu membawa dampak yang baik atau buruk buat dirimu? Dan yang kedua, pikirkan apakah kata-kata itu membawa dampak yang baik atau buruk buat orang lain?

Ini saatnya kita belajar lebih dewasa, dan bertanggung jawab dengan perkataan kita.

Most of us have ever heard about Power Rangers. The story of 5 mighty heroes who are known as "Rangers" have entertained many people for years, and recently, it was made into a movie.

Power Rangers are skillful and powerful. They can jump mightily, fight intensely, and they can do other special things. They can impact and change other people's life in the city they live.

Now the title of our blog is Power Words and yes, it is inspired by Power Rangers. Just like rangers, words also have power. The words we say, think, and listen to - have power.

The proof is evident in our own experience. Have you ever felt so angry or sad or happy, after you heard what people said about something? Then, is there a time when certain words appear in your mind, when you feel angry? Or when you want to support others? Have you ever been inspired when you read some slogans, such as "I'm Lovin It" - McDonald's, "Belanja Puas, Harga Pas" - Alfamart's, "Wonderful Indonesia" - Indonesia Tourism's, and even "Rediscover You" - Vanela School's.

Words are strong. They could stick in our mind even without realizing it and this is why slogans were made. Words - can heal or kill, build or destroy, and break or unite. Challenge yourself for the week, train yourself to be more aware of the words you say, think, & listen to. Maybe you can write some of them down too. But try to be more aware, and consider whether the words bring good or bad impact to you? And whether the words bring good or bad impact to others?

It's time we learn to be more mature and responsible with our words.
